Joan Semprebon

   

    Joan Semprebon first got hooked on the Blues in San Francisco in 1980, walking into a bar in the middle of the day and hearing Charlie Musselwhite. That was it!  A year later she moved to Boston and listened religiously to David Herwaldt's "Out of the Blues" show on MIT's radio station WMBR in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

    Joan Semprebon currently hosts an outstanding blues show called "Blue Rhythm" on every other Saturday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm (alternating with Tom Wendt's "Blue Zone") on KBOO 90.7 FM in Portland, Oregon. 92.7 in the Columbia Gorge. And 100.7 FM in Corvallis.  Joan consistently promotes blues of all varieties, classic and country blues, Chicago blues, R&B, soul, gospel, local and women artists.

    Joan has been a music host and engineer at KBOO since 1994. She likes to feature guest DJs and have occasional live music. Joan Semprebon has interviewed several top-notch regional and national blues artists such as Chris Mercer, Paul delay, Charlie Musselwhite, John Hammond, Jr., Lily Wilde, Fritz Richmond, Geoff Muldaur and authors Peter Guralnick.and Barry Hansen.

Joan is an accomplished videographer, with some of her work in the Smithsonian Archives of American ArtJoan served on the Cascade Blues Association, board of directors, in 1995 and 1996.

    She worked college radio at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts 1983-1985.  Joan Semprebon did her radio internship at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in 1980-1981.
