Live @ The Deluxe by Richard Day-Reynolds & Blue Light Special

You got nothing to worry about, Richard.  The liner notes for "Live @ The Deluxe" question the advisability of putting out a live recording as the first release of an unknown band.  One rehearsal, no booze, and the flu were a few obstacles thrown in the band's path for this outing.  If that's the case, who knows what'll happen in the studio, because this stuff is great.

"Live @ The Deluxe" perfectly captures the feel of a hard core Blues Bar Band in fine form, with a nice mixture of ballads and up-tempo Jump Blues style numbers. It's all about the guitar, and Day-Reynolds and Garry Meziere have that all wrapped up. Beautiful warm, gritty tones highlight their, at times, blistering, at times, mournful solos, which, with rock solid backing, beg to go on long.  That's why you get almost an hour of music in just nine songs.

If that's not enough, Kerry Canfield steps up to the plate note for note on keyboards providing equally energetic breaks in a variety of tones. To top it off, four well-chosen covers share the space with five sweet originals, showing that the man can write with style and taste.

"Live @ The Deluxe" sounds great on the stereo, and it has to be even better in person. Don't sweat it, Richard, just keep `em coming.
