Jim Wallace
of The Lucky Devils, in conjunction with the Bitter End Pub,
are proud to announce the return of a much-loved Portland Blues institution. Yes,
the Harmonica Party LIVES!
On Wednesday, July 4th, Blues harmonica players, fans, and heavy breathers are invited to the Bitter End Pub, 1981 W. Burnside, for a night of music dedicated to the world's cheapest musical instrument.
Based loosely on Arthur Moore's harmonica parties of several years ago, The Lucky Devils will take to the stage at 9:30 pm for a set of West Coast Jump and Chicago Blues, featuring host Jim Wallace on harp. The second set will feature an over the top battle royale jam session of harp players, Hohner owners and heavy breathers of all styles and talent levels. All participates will be backed by The Lucky Devils house band. which will feature Josh Fulero on guitar, Marco Savo on bass, and Jeff Minnick on drums. All players are invited to bring their instruments and sit in, as every effort will be made to include as many jammers as time allows.
The Bitter End Pub is located across from the PGE Park and is host to a week of Blues events in celebration of the Waterfront Blues Festival, July 4th through the 8th. Blues Week at the Bitter End kicks off Tuesday, 7/3 with Lloyd Jones, Wednesday, 7/4 with the West Coast Harmonica Party, featuring Jim Wallace and The Lucky Devils, Thursday, 7/5 with Bob Shoemaker and Texas Special (Papa Mali & Sarah Brown), and Friday, 7/6 will be The Strange Tones.
