Viking Productions & the CBA Present:Sonny RhodesReturns to PortlandSaturday, July 21st - Trail's End Saloon |
Gifted veteran Bluesman, Sonny Rhodes returns to the Trail's
End Saloon for the first time in almost three years. Sonny
will take the stage on Saturday night, July 21st at 9:30 pm for
what promises to be an extraordinary summer evening of the "real deal"
Urban Blues.
Sonny Rhodes is one of the most remarkable Bluesmen alive today! His magical. mesmerizing performances are truly remarkable. Sonny is top dog when it comes to playing his brand of Texas, Chicago and West Coast Blues. He's a fantastic showman and a brilliant purveyor of classic Blues styles.
You get such a dynamic package when you attend a Sonny Rhodes show; his trademark turban, his lap steel guitar playing, lots of original songs, his distinctive growling vocals and always a fantastic band backing him. Once Sonny starts wailing on that lap steel guitar there are no-holds-barred. He lets loose with some of the sweetest sounds Blues has to offer.
Sonny is one of the most underrated Bluesmen around. His commitment to performing the Blues is self-evident, whether it is live or with his recorded material. Sonny Rhodes is a musician the caliber of great Bluesmen like the late Johnny "Clyde" Copeland and Luther Allison (who incidentally, were two of his best friends). Sonny Rhodes' music is truly all Blues and nothin' but the Blues; no guess work here!
Sonny will be fresh off his performance at the Waterfront Blues Festival earlier in July. He only plays for an hour there. Here is your chance to see and hear a full evening of one of the best Bluesmen performing on the circuit today. And, the show will be "up close and personal" in the amiable roadhouse setting of the "Muddy Award" winning Trail's End Saloon. Don't miss it!
This is a CBA co-sponsored event, which means $1 off at the door to CBA card-carrying members. For more info on the show, call the Trail's End Saloon at (503) 656-3031
See ya there!
