At the Old Packwood Lumber Mill Site, Packwood, WA

Da Mill's shut down
We been feelin' blue
Mos' folks lef' town
Now what we gonna do
Forget the frown
Here's a party for you!

The First Annual Packwood Music Festival presents "Blues At The Mill" in Packwood, WA.  The music festival features Packwood's own, Blue Barbie, Washington Blues Societies' (WBS) BB Award winner for "Best Acoustic Guitar" and "Traditional Act" 2001; Curly Cooke; and Blues and Jazz harmonica soloist, Jay Mabin. Also, the original sounds of Contemporary Blues Band, Ennis In Theory, and voted "Best Band" at the 2000 WBS BB Awards and a top eight finisher at the 2001 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Junkyard Jane's Swampabilly Freak Show.

After 66 years of processing up to 350,000 board feet of lumber a day, the jobs are gone and we got "Dem Ole Spotted Owls Blues, Mama". The town's lost more money than the dot-corn crowd, so it's either throw a "Blues Party" and fish for visitors, or eat the bait!

So, grab the Ex and the kids, borrow the car back from the finance company and cruise on up the mountains to the old Packwood Lumber Mill site at 1:00 o'clock on Saturday, September 22nd for food, fun, fresh air and six hours of the finest in Northwest Blues Bands. We're under cover in a big ol' mill building, but bring your own chairs or blankets for festival seating.

Packwood is in between Mt. Rainier and Mt. St Helens on Highway 12 in the beautiful Cowlitz Valley.

Advance tickets are $20 (at the door $25). Kids under 12 are $10. Advance tickets are available by calling: (360) 494-7466 or (360) 494-6310 or visit our web site at: destinationpackwood.com. Motel packages are available, see the website (also check out the ad in this issue of B/Ns).

If you only get to go to one concert this year, make it "Blues At The Mill". We started out with nothing and we still have most of it left.
