News Flash!!! Drawback Slim won this year's Journey To Memphis Talent Competition, and will represent the Cascade Blues Association next year at the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in Memphis in Feb 2002. Congratulations, Drawback Slim!!!

It's that time once again boys and girls! The Journey to Memphis Band Competition is upon us. The competition this year will be held at The Cascade Bar & Grill, located at 15000 Mill Plain Blvd. in Vancouver, WA. This year's event will consist of four bands, some you may be familiar with and others you may not. They are all good bands and each one is looking forward to going to Memphis the first part of next year.

The competition will include:

LORI BOUCK & THE INTERPRETERS, from Oregon City
DRAWBACK SLIMS WILD WEST, from Portland
BOBBY SIMS & THE BLUE ROCKERS, from Bend
BLIND RHINO, from Philomath.

You may remember Blind Rhino as the runner up in last year's competition. Talking about last year's competition, JUNKYARD JANE, last year's representative, will also be at the competition to help kick things off. All this great music will start at 1:00 pm and will run until around 6 - 6:30 pm on Sunday, October 21st. So, come on out and help us show support for all the groups. If this year is even close to last year, it looks to be a great day of hard BLUES.

The winner of this year's local competition will go to Memphis to compete in the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge next February.
