Ethos, Inc & the CBA Present:Blues In SchoolsDecember Update By LynnAnn Hyde BIS Winter Blast Fund Raiser - 12/14 - 7:00pm - Cascade Bar & Grill - $10 cover |
Thanks to Craig & Inca Elliott of the Hollywood Burger Bar for their most generous donations for our Raffle Table! Other items include some right fancy electronic equipment, a stellar video of the Portland Saturday Market (Ellen Whyte, Linda Hornbuckle, Norman Sylvester and Terry Robb performances) and our CBA picnic shows all caught on tape, and many other items of interest. The WINTER BLAST (see ad in this issue) will be a great success due in part to our member participation!
Thanks to the CBA for kicking in the last $100 we needed to make budget! YEEE-HAW! Thanks to BluesNotes Editor in Chief, Rick Hall, for his generous contributions to the advertising!
I am not sure about the school shows for December, but Adam Reid, from Ethos, Inc. will be at the 12/14 fundraiser and can provide more info at that time. The Portland High Night School show was a donation Stu Kinzel and I gave on 11/29 at the "doomed" Ethos HQ/Clubhouse. Ethos was forced to let one building site go, but will maintain its studio, lab-sites and Music Mobile for the benefit of Oregon and SW Washington youth. Ethos can be reached online or by phone (www.Ethos-Inc.com or (503) 241-8824).
Thanks so much to our sponsors and to the hundreds of you who gave so freely to make this event happen. We need a strong turnout at the door to fund the school shows from 12/01 through 6/02, so make sure you attend this concert show! The price is better than right (only TEN BUCKS for card carryin' CBA members) because the event starts at 7:00 pm with the great one himself, Paul deLay, and will wrap up with our very own Bill Rhoades blowin' the roof off from midnight to closing. Rob Laws, Jim Wallace, Megan James, Joan Jones, KG Jackson, Ken ("One Lip Willie") Scandlyn and Kinzel & Hyde Band will all fill in the gaps during six hours of great Blues and related music!
Any musicians who are not on the BIS presenters list but want to be, can contact me at their convenience.
Adam, Charles, LeEtta and I will be getting together after the benefit to do a final count and determine the amount of money we can spend per school show. It is our hope that some musicians will continue to participate in the program as sponsors. We did NOT achieve the financial goal we had set two years ago and instead of each artist receiving $50 for their part in BIS presentations, we may have only $50 for each week's school show. Stu and I have donated several shows and will continue to do so, but the need for more musician sponsorship is evident ......
Thanks again, and I will see you at the BIS Winter Blast, 12/14, Cascade Bar & Grill!
