Ethos, Inc & the CBA Present:

Blues In The Schools

January, 2002 Update

The December Fund Raiser was a Complete Success!!!
Thank You All That Participated!!!

Franco Palletta    Thanks to all of our sponsors, and all of our musicians, for participating in the annual Blues In Schools "Winter Blast".  Due to a scheduling difficulty, Bill Rhoades and his most excellent band "The Party Kings" could not make the event.  Special thanks to Franco Palletta and Dave Ward of The Stingers for filling in.  Stu Kinzel and I thank Paul deLay, Jim Wallace, Mr. Landon, Johnny Moore, Joan Jones, Megan James, KG Jackson, Rob Landahl, Robbie Laws, Fred Garner, AC Porter, Peter Dammann and Drawback Slim for all their help in making this concert a huge success!  We raised $1,400 for Blues In Schools!  Thanks a million to LeEtta Clark, we could not have done this event without her help and support!   A very big THANK YOU to Chris and Larry Wills for hosting the event AND providing financial support!   Thanks to Mike and Jeremy for their hard work during the concert behind the bar.

Dave Ward    We will publish our BIS school venues for the months of January and February in the next issue of the BluesNotes.  We will be sure to let you know the names of our BIS presenters.

LeEtta Clark and I will be representing the CBA when we meet with Charles Lewis and Adam Reid at Ethos, Inc. to determine a base-line payment for artists who provide Blues In Schools presentations.  Ethos provides us with school venues, sound system, and promotional support.  They also handle the money so that the artists can get paid at the time of their performance.  One of the goals of BIS is to provide a positive model of career musicians, encouraging children to pursue music as a career. Ethos shares that goal, and with their help we will continue to expose our kids to Blues, encourage them to listen to, and participate in, creating American Folk art, and hopefully become musicians themselves.

(For our sponsors: Charles Lewis and I will be mailing your tax credits soon!)
