Norman Sylvester Supports Blues In The Schools!!!    Hello friends! Our BIS shows for January were quite impressive, beginning with a fifth grade assembly at Tom McCall Upper Elementary, on Jan. 18 at 2:15 pm. The presentation was attended by over 200 fifth grade students and lasted for 50 minutes.  Our very next BIS presentation was at the Portland Convention Center on l/21, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  The presentation was provided by "Muddy" winners, Kinzel & Hyde at 11 am, and concluded at 11:45.  The Norman Sylvester Band performed at noon and continued the BIS tradition of educating and entertaining as only the "Boogie Cat" can!  Norman has been a BIS presenter and supporter for nearly 10 years, and Stu Kinzel and I were honored to do a BIS opening show for Norman and his great band.  We were all there to honor Dr. King, and to help raise funds and instruments for Ethos' music lesson program.  This was also a debut for the new "RURAL ROUTE" double-decker bus Ethos is using to give lessons to kids in outlying and rural districts.  Thanks to Director, Charles Lewis, BIS got a huge plug at the Portland Convention Center, and helped show our solidarity in supporting programs Dr. King would have been proud of.

Adam Reid, (adam@ethos-inc.com or (503) 241-8824) is booking our school shows right now!  Adam has confirmed participation from Johnnie Ward, Kinzel & Hyde, Terry Robb, Paul deLay, Robbie Laws and the Jake Blair Band.   Any band or solo/duo interested in becoming a BIS / Ethos presenter must contact Adam Reid.  He will let you know the prerequisites and protocols.  This is an educational Arts / Humanities program and specific criteria must be met.

Stu Kinzel and I are donating a show at Mill Park Elementary School this month and Adam will be letting me know about other presentations scheduled as they come in.  Bill Rhoades has been donating his time at elementary schools, too.  In fact, he represented the fantastic Junior Wells during the "Pages of History" month show at a local school last November.

Any news you may have regarding BIS here, and abroad, can be e-mailed to me at the following address:

If you would like a BIS presentation at a specific school or other children's venue (public libraries. Boys and Girls Clubs, etc.) call or e-mail Adam at the contact numbers.

Thanks to CBA members and supporting members, we have a great program in place and going strong! I LOVE YOU GUYS for this!
