Volunteer On-Air Opening

***   Rhapsody In Blues    ***    Fridays 6 - 10 pm   ***

Yes, YOU can be a Popular, Prime Time Blues DJ!!!

The Friday Night BLUES Show on Public radio station, KMHD-FM, is looking for a new host for the highly popular, prime-time "Rhapsody In Blues" program, Friday nights 6-10 pm.  Former host, Jane Manning, is moving to the east coast and has left a large hole to fill in the Friday night Blues lineup.

Rhapsody In Blues is designed to be a change of pace from the high-energy, driving beat of "Friday Freeway Blues" hosted by Steve Pringle and the party Blues show of  Tom Addis' "The Blues Palace".  Rhapsody In Blues' focus takes into account the dinner hours and looks to the roots of music for its tone and themes.  It is softer and more melodic, reaching back into the Memphis and New Orleans, Mississippi Delta, and Jazz sounds for its inspiration.  The show consistently gets high ratings in Arbitron diaries and is a high producing slot for public radio fundraising.

The volunteer position is open now and KMHD hopes to fill the slot by the end of February.  Interested DJ's, programmers, musicians or just Blues lovers are invited to apply with a letter of interest, a resume, or some other means to indicate your interest.  No tapes, please, until you hear from the station.

For more information, please call Greg Gomez at (503) 491-7633 or Doug Sweet at (503) 491-7233.

Open until filled.  Radio experience is helpful, but not required.  Training can be provided.
