Off the Beat'n Path

Don't miss these GREAT Blues Venues

The Time Out Bar - The Ranch House

The Time Out Bar is located just off 1-5 on Pacific Hwy in Tigard.  On Fridays and Saturdays they have live bands.  On the evening I was there, a band called Network was playing.  This is a nice suburbia-type club with good music and a fun atmosphere.  The band was more Rock 'n' Roll, but put on a good show with the crowd. AND, as a big bonus, a 24 hour restaurant, Bannings, is right next door.

On the other side of town, a sporty, wide screen TV, purple felt pool table bar exists, The Ranch House (located at 160th & SE Division on Portland's east side). Live music on Friday and Saturday nights compliment a big open space that's not smoky.  The Saturday night I was there the band playing was Big Hank & The Blues Boys.  I've seen these guys at different jams, but not together at a gig.  Texas style Blues, Rock'n Roll and a couple of very good originals kept the joint shak'n.  The drummer is a chef there, so I'll go out on a limb and say the food is good.

In the future watch for other new venues, like The Redland Cafe, get'n the once over by "The Foodpimp". I check out the clubs, so you don't have to be surprised!
