Paddy's Bar And Grill Presents:Blues & Brews
|
St. Patrick's Day is Sunday,
March 17th this year, but Paddy's Bar & Grill (SW 1st &
Yamhill) will be celebrating the entire weekend, as usual, with The
Sixth Annual St. Paddy's Blues & Brews Irish Festival. This
year, the two-day festival is slated for both Saturday and Sunday,
March 16th & 17th, with its best music lineup to date.
The event starts Saturday, March 16th, with a stellar lineup of American Roots Music. Opening at 4 pm with local faves the Countrypolitians, who will be followed by the Freak Mountain Ramblers, an alt-Country band that are gathering rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The night's headliners are national recording artists, Big Sandy & the Fly Rite Boys. This L.A. based group has consistently wowed audiences throughout the country with their distinct combination of bluesy Rockabilly and Western Swing. This is a lineup of music that is sure to please everyone in attendance.
On St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, the music turns to a full day of the Blues and begins at 2 pm with a solo performance by Cascade Blues Association "Muddy Award Hall Of Fame" inductee, Terry Robb. At 3:30 pm, things kick into full gear with one of the hottest Blues / Rock acts on the circuit, Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers. This internationally acclaimed group is guaranteed to electrify the crowd with one of their jaw dropping performances. Thackery is widely considered one of the premier pyrotechnic guitarists on today's Blues scene. Portland fan favorite, Norman Sylvester, follows with his six-piece revue and their soulful Blues stylings. Then at 7 pm, the Paul deLay Band takes over the stage for the rest of the evening. Joining one of Portland's finest Blues quintets will be special guest stars, Lloyd Jones, and the diva of soul, Linda Hornbuckle. Paul is riding tall these days with his highly rated Blues CD on Evidence Records, "Heavy Rotation." Both, Paul and Lloyd are also in the CBA's "Muddy Award Hall Of Fame" and Linda is a multi-"Muddy Award" nominee and one of the finest R&B, Blues and Gospel vocalists anywhere!
In between sets, the audience will be entertained by the acclaimed Maher School of Irish Dancers, as well as the S.T. Express, a father and daughter-fiddling duo. Of course, there will be traditional Irish food and a wide assortment of beverages to choose from.
The admission is $7 at the door. The music will go until 11:00 pm each night. This festival is a fund-raiser for the Special Olympics Oregon. This is going to be a fantastic weekend of music and fun.
Hope to see you there!
