Summer Concert SeriesThe Oregon Zoo Has The Blues!Blues & Blues-Related Acts To Perform
|
The Wednesday and Thursday evening summer concert series at The Oregon Zoo has always had its share of fine Blues and Blues-related shows, and that holds true again this year! The Zoo Amphitheater is perfect for music with a superb raised outdoor stage and a good sound system. And, there's a lot of grass to stretch out on with your picnic basket, low-back sand chairs or a blanket. The shows are early 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. which allows for plenty of music on a weeknight without interfering with your work schedule.
The evening "Wells Fargo Summer Concerts At The Zoo" are a family affair of fun and music for the low cost of only $9.00 for adults and $6.00 for the kids (ages 3-11). And that includes Zoo admission too. Quite a deal for a wonderful evening of entertainment!
There is great music all summer long at the Zoo starting June 22nd. Listed below are some of the acts scheduled to perform this year that might be of interest to Blues fans:
Wednesday, July 10th - Beausoleil - For over 20 years Michael Doucet and Beausoleil have been at the forefront of the Cajun music scene.
Wednesday,
August 14th - Maria Muldaur - One of the sweetest
voices Blues has to offer. Maria blends her Blues with the music
of Louisiana for what she calls "Bluesiana music" and it's a pure
delight!
There are also some wonderful "Premium Concerts" presented at the Zoo during the summer. Tickets for these special performances are available at all Safeway FASTIXX Centers, online at the Fastixx Web site, or with no added service charge at the Zoo reception office.
Many of the Zoo's "Premium Concerts" also look to be very attractive shows for Blues fans this summer.
Saturday, June 22nd - Los Lobos, the dynamic band from East LA visits the Zoo. This fantastic group really mixes it up by playing Tex-Mex, Country, R&B and Blues, as well as traditional Mexican music. And they do it better than most! Los Lobos is always top-notch entertainment.
Sunday,
June 23rd - Keb' Mo', the Delta and Country
Blues performer who captured the hearts and souls of Blues fans and popular
music fans alike in the last half of the 1990s, returns to the Oregon Zoo for
one of his stellar and passionate performances.
Friday, July 19th - Tower Of Power, the powerful Bay Area horn band will make a long-overdue appearance at the Oregon Zoo. This dynamic 10-piece band blends Jazz, Funk, Rock and Blues into a spirited performance they like to call "Urban Soul Music." It's funky stuff!!
Thursday, August 29th - Ray Charles, the "American Icon" himself. will take the stage at the Zoo. Ray plays it all Jazz, R&B, Smooth Soul, Pop and especially Blues. He is a musical treasure and that's why he is called, simply, "The Genius!"
The "Wells Fargo Summer Concerts At The Zoo" series runs through August 29th with other acts of interest to music fans throughout the summer. You can check it all out online at the Oregon Zoo's Web site.
