Stepping Down

Jackson Lee

Announces His Resignation
From His Position As President
Of The Board Of Directors

This is a sad day for me. As we all know, as we go through life many things happen to us all. Some bad and some good. One of the good things that happened to me was and is the Cascade Blues Association. Through the CBA I have met and spent good times with many of the greats in the world of Blues. I have also had the opportunity to do the same with many of our unbelievable Blues people right here in Portland. I had the opportunity to go to Memphis and see many of the sites that are legendary in the Blues world. I served on the CBA Board of Directors (BOD) for some five years and was elected to the office of President this past election. I have always tried to put the CBA in a good light with all I have met, and share the excitement of what we here in Portland have to offer the Blues world.

So I hope you all understand my deep sadness in having to step down from the office of President and the CBA BOD. There are many reasons for this, all personal and very hard for me to deal with. I am truly heartbroken that I am not able to finish my job with the CBA, but this burden is lightened by the fact that I leave the CBA in very good hands — your present BOD. All are good people and working to make the CBA the best Blues association anywhere. They can only do this because of the great membership.

It has been my deepest honor to work with and speak with most of the membership. Please keep supporting the CBA and the people trying to make a go of it. Good luck to all of you and please say hi when you see me. I'll still be around and look forward to seeing all of you and to work with the CBA again very soon. Bye for now and thanks for the rush. It has been real.

Jackson Lee

Note: Greg Johnson, formerly Vice President, is currently Interim President until the new officers for 2003 are selected in the regularly-scheduled elections in December. More information on the CBA staff is available here.
