The Stein Haus and the CBA Present

Steve James & Del Rey

performing at the Stein Haus on August 24th,
and
at the CBA Annual Picnic on August 25th!

Two powerful exponents of American vernacular guitar music have joined forces to play a musical testament to the Hillbilly/smart-ass/Country Blues aesthetic. Austin, Texas slide guitarist and Burnside recording artist Steve James is "a true American hero...his intensity and force always reminds me of James Coburn's character in The Magnificent Seven" (Third Coast Magazine). Del Rey, from Seattle, is a pianistic and complex guitarist, described as "a combination of Bo Carter and the Andrews Sisters" (Observant Fan). Steve and Del have been long-time colleagues and collaborators at festivals and workshops worldwide. With nine solo albums between them, they have finally recorded a CD together called Twins. Sharing a sense of humor and a similar manic intensity, their duets range over material from Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe to Eddie Lang and Lonnie Johnson.

Del Rey doubles on resonator ukulele, and Steve James plays Blues mandolin in a style no one living today can duplicate. Their live show is smart, funny and full of instrumental virtuosity.

Steve James & Del Rey will appear at these Oregon venues in August:
