It's
always guaranteed to be a fun night of first-rate Blues harmonica whenever
Mark Hummel
comes to town. Consistent hard-working and hard-driving performances
have become a trademark of this outstanding musician. And you can certainly
expect no less when he blows his way back into Oregon City on Saturday,
September 7th at the Trail's End Saloon (9 p.m.
showtime). Mark
makes a point of hitting the Portland area whenever he is on the road. It's
a destination he knows is going to be a highlight and the feelings from
his local fans are reciprocated in kind.
Over the years, Mark has performed with many great Blues artists, ranging from Charles Brown and Lowell Fulson to Billy Boy Arnold. He also has a reputation for helping to bring up some of the best younger artists through his own band, including musicians like Rusty Zinn and Jimi Bott. Mark also hosts his own Harmonica Blow-Down shows throughout Northern California, which have become a much anticipated tradition because of the outstanding harp players that are always included. You can hear what an exceptional event this is with Mark's latest release, Mark Hummel's Blues Harp Meltdown (Mountain Top Productions), as Mark lays down some serious playing with guests like Kim Wilson, Billy Branch and Rick Estrin included in the show.
Without question, Mark Hummel is one of the finest Blues harmonica players you're likely to hear anywhere. This is going to be one show you'll want to get to early, because Mark's fans in the area will be out in full force. He always puts on an exciting and energetic show, so mark it on your calendar now.
