The Cascade Blues Association Presents
|
Sneak
Preview # 2 (Robert Lowery)
The Cascade Blues Association is pleased to
announce that the third annual installment of the "Muddy Award"-nominated
Willamette Delta Showcase has been scheduled at the Aladdin Theater
on Saturday, March 9th. Once again, it is our intention to bring to
Portland premier Blues performers who may not otherwise have the opportunity to
play in our city. In an attempt to build interest in this event, we will
be profiling one of the scheduled performers each month prior to the event. This
month. our focus will be our headline act Phillip
Walker
How
can you deny the stature of a performer who has been steadily working for nearly
50 years? Not to mention being hailed by "Guitar Player Magazine"
as one of the 10 most important Blues guitarists living today. Since he began
performing at the age of 13 in 1950, Phillip Walker has worked
alongside such noted musicians as Long John Hunter; Lonnie Brooks,
Lonesome Sundown, Clifton Chenier, Little Richard and Fats Domino.
Though recordings as a solo artist are something he infrequently does, Walker
has released a handful of very potent albums that showcase his stellar guitar
talents quite nicely. As a live performer, it has been said that few can
compare with him. In fact, "West Coast Blues Review Magazine"
once stated, "With all due respect to B.B. King, Phillip Walker has
been the true king of the Blues for the last 20 years." High billing
indeed!
It is with great pleasure that the Cascade Blues
Association will be presenting Phillip Walker after an
exceedingly long-time absence in the Portland area. The price of admission
for the Willamette Delta Showcase is a bargain solely for the appearance
of Phillip Walker, but he is but a third of the show.
Please watch your upcoming BluesNotes to see who
else will be sharing this exciting evening of Blues entertainment.
Sponsorship packages are still available for the Willamette Delta Showcase for as little as $100. All donations are very much appreciated and are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Help the Cascade Blues Association in bringing these artists who otherwise may not play in Portland.
All sponsors will receive tickets to the event, stage and
print mentions and website banners that can link to your businesses' Internet
sites from the Cascade Blues Association's award-winning web page.
Other benefits are available for those who wish to give more. Remember,
contributions to the CBA are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed
by law.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank those who have already
