Returning for its fourth year, The Cascade Blues Association's three-time Muddy Award-nominated Willamette Delta Showcase will be taking place at a later date than normal this year. In the past, we have presented this event in March, but due to the increasing number of Blues shows taking place at that time of the year and circumstances beyond our control, this year's Showcase will be held on Friday, May 30th. Another change this time around will be a new venue: The Music Stage at The Portland Art Museum. If you've been attending the Museum After Hours presentations or caught the recent performances by John Hammond, Coco Montoya or Junior Watson, you're already familiar with the excellent surroundings offered by this fine location. We feel that it will be the perfect home for the Willamette Delta Showcase, too.

In the tradition of standards set forth by the Willamette Delta Showcase since its inception, we'll once again be presenting a special blend of artists who have been sorely missing from our city's stages. It is with exceptional pleasure that we announce that the headliner for this evening will be the living legend Robert Lockwood Jr., one of the last of the pre-war Blues artists still performing today. His appearance at the Waterfront Blues Festival three years back was lauded with great respect and earned a Muddy Award for Performance of the Year. A winner of the National Heritage Trust, Mr. Lockwood has worked with many of the most renowned names in Blues history, including Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson and Little Walter. It is our belief that having Robert Lockwood Jr. at this year's Willamette Delta Showcase is the perfect way to help celebrate the United States Congress proclaimed "Year of the Blues."

Also making a rare appearance in Portland for this event will be Johnny Dyer, one of the West Coast's finest harmonica players. It has been nearly 10 years since his last performance at the Waterfront Blues Festival, where he made many lifelong fans who are jumping for the chance of his return.

Rounding out the show will be Los Angeles-based guitarist and producer Barry Levenson, making his first trip to the Rose City. Levenson has a tone-rich, crafted style that will raise the hairs on your head. If you're a fan of Ronnie Earl, this is one artist that will catch your ear. Both Barry Levenson and Johnny Dyer will be supported by a trio of musicians selected from our wealth of local talent.
