The Cascade Blues Association and KINK Sunday Night Blues are pleased to announce that on Saturday, March 10th, the Second Annual Willamette Delta Showcase will be held at the Aladdin Theater. This event is designed to present premier Blues performers who may not otherwise have the opportunity to play in the City of Portland. In an attempt to build interest in this year's show, we have been profiling one of the scheduled performers for the past couple of months. We have already presented the multi-talented Paul Oscher, and our headline act, Hubert Sumlin. This month we present Sean Chambers, an up-and-coming guitarist from Florida who will open the show and will also play behind Hubert Sumlin.

Though only in his early-30s, Sean Chambers has been making a name for himself in the world of Blues Rock. Strongly influenced as a young man by the works of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sean has built a proficiency on the guitar to rival even his mentors. He began his professional career working in a tribute band to the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, capturing the essence and skills of that late master so well that he even earned a standing ovation following a performance in Vaughan's home base of Austin, Texas. After a couple of years showcasing Vaughan's material, Chambers sought his own sound. His CD titled, "Strong Temptation", has even been cited as perhaps the finest Blues-Rock debut since Vaughan's own "Texas Flood". Certainly a sign that he is moving in the right direction.

Named by "Guitarist Magazine" as one of the "50 Greatest Blues Guitarists" and one of the Blues "Top Ten Up-and-Coming Performers," fans of heavy-handed guitar, rooted deeply in the sounds of Vaughan, Albert King, Albert Collins and Freddie King, will definitely want to catch Sean Chambers' performance.

This year's Willamette Delta Showcase certainly has a strong line-up. It is looking to be Portland's "Blues event of the winter". We're hoping to see you all there, because you're not going to want to miss this one.
