Terry Robb: Finger-Style Blues Guitar & TechniquesTerry Robb has won international acclaim as both accompanist and lead guitarist in several distinct Blues stylizations (notably finger-style applications). Terry Robb has an extensive history in Blues education, and has even started a guitar school here in Portland. Terry has consistently supported blues education in the loose guild system (traditional artisan approach) and as a featured clinician at the prestigious Port Townsend Country-Blues festival and workshop series. We are honored by Terry's participation, and look forward to this all ages clinic and performance. The clinic starts at 1:00 pm, and a door fee of $20.00 per attendee is required. This program promises to offer many technical and artistic points of interest to guitar players, and non-players alike. Anyone interested in Blues should attend. It just doesn't get any better!!!

Jack Cook Guitar
Clinic
The CBA and The 45th St. Pub (4511 SW Beaverton / Hillsdale Hwy., (503) 246-7061) are pleased to continue our "THIRD SUNDAY" clinics on August 20th, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This month's workshop features Jack Cook as host, and promises to be a spectacular presentation! Jack Cook is best known for his traditional Resophonic guitar playing (in fact, Jack spent years touring Europe doing just that), but he is also a fine electric guitarist, covering the '50s Chess Record styles, as well as contemporary stylizations. Jack has mastered the finger styles of the "Great Ones", Mississippi John Hurt, Frank Stokes, et al, and the electric guitar styles of Robert Nighthawk, the Meyers Brothers (Louis & Dave), Lonnie Johnson, as well as T-Bone (Walker), and ALL THOSE KINGS, to offer the listener and student of Blues a world-class "tour" of Blues styles ranging from old-style Memphis and Piedmont to modem applications. Mr Cook intends to provide some printed materials along with his demonstration, and will also do a Q&A session. Jack Cook has played with the greats (Sleepy John Estes, Hammie Nixon, JIM WALLACE, JOHNNIE WARD) and I encourage any guitarist who is serious about their playing to attend this workshop! There will be a very reasonable fee of $5.00 per person, so I suggest you arrive early to get a good seat!! I will see you there! - LynnAnn Hyde |

David Jacobs-Strain: Bottle-Neck Slide GuitarThe CBA and The 45th St. Pub are proud to present David Jacobs-Strain as host of September's "Third Sunday Clinic". This young man is a prodigious talent, and plans to present a workshop that includes fingerstyle bottleneck techniques, and bottleneck slide guitar technique and applications. David is an award-winning performer, and a wonderful educator, with many clinics under his belt (a regular clinic host at the prestigious Port Townsend Country Blues event, as well as scheduled clinics and workshops all over the West Coast), and he will even demonstrate the art of MAKING a "bottleneck slide". It is with great pleasure and a true honor to present this fine young guitarist / educator on Sunday, September 17th. David has been performing with the AWESOME Alice Stuart, and many other great artists, and he has a wonderful CD out, also! David placed second in the Blues Foundation's International BluesKids Talent Search last year. We are so lucky to have him. I urge you to come EARLY to get a seat! David is requesting an extremely reasonable fee of $10 to attend his workshop, and since he is driving in from Eugene, I think it's a real bargain! I will be on hand (as usual) to run sound and sign-in clinic attendees, so I will see ya there! The 45th St. Pub is located at: 4511 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy. at the corner of 45th & Hwy. 10 (246-7061). The delightful Christina (manager and head-honcho) and the wonderful Bob Ordlin (owner) have really gone all-out to provide a great venue space for these ALL AGES clinics. There is a kitchen and a full bar for those of you looking for a little Sunday afternoon refreshment, and free coffee provided to the workshop attendees. Christina and Bob also support our Blues scene quite well, and offer a variety of Blues music there on week-ends. I hope that we can show OUR support to the 45th St. Pub in the same way they support us!
