    The next General Membership Meeting of the CBA will take place on Wednesday, May 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, downstairs at the Melody Ballroom at 615 SE Alder in Portland.

    To open the May meeting, we'll hear from a local artist who's been pretty busy since releasing his debut CD two years ago. Adam Scramstad is a skilled practitioner of fingerstyle blues guitar, as he demonstrated on his 2006 release, No Sun Around Blues. As the CD gained recognition, Adam was soon playing more dates around town, both solo and as a duo with his mentor, Terry Robb. More recently Adam has been playing electric guitar as part of the Terry Robb Band, leveraging his versatility to play a vital role in a tight lineup. And earlier this year, Adam signed to the new roots & blues label PsycheDelta Records, which will soon release his new CD, Down The Muddy Creek Blues. Maybe Adam will treat us to a few selections during his set...

    When Adam's set has ended, it'll then be time for our traditional mid-meeting break, when we make important announcements and hold prize drawings. As if the excellent music weren't enough, each month many lucky attendees walk out with a free CD, gift certificate or concert tickets. Such a deal!

Under Cover Band

    The second set of each meeting features an electric band, and the month of May brings us the Under Cover Band. Bandleader and guitarist Dan Hess comes from a musical family, having performed with brother Rod in Chicago and with his sister, Portland's own Sonny Hess. The group has performed at numerous venues throughout Portland and the Northwest; their members come from a variety of backgrounds that mix powerfully to create a heady stew of blues, rock, soul, R&B and Motown that should get you out of your seat in a hurry. All in all it should be a fun night of music.

    So put it on your calendar and come on out! Every monthly meeting is an all-ages, smoke-free event, and non-members as well as members are welcome. Food and beverages are available for your enjoyment.
