Mac has been very busy, playing gigs and working on a new CD with Manimalhouse, and a new funk quartet. He is also recording some more new tracks at home for his funky blues solo album. He will be returning to New Orleans to play at the Jazz and Heritage Fest in April.Mac sits in regularly at Tommy O’s in Vancouver, where he has been fortunate to share the stage with Renato Caranto, Louis Pain, Lloyd Jones, and other great jazz and blues players. If you have never been to Tommy O’s, they have a great club in downtown Vancouver and have live music and jams 3-4 nights a week.
Mac will be playing with his Funk Quartet at Jimmy Mak’s on February 2nd at 6:30. He will be playing cuts from his album Too Much Funky Stuff and the upcoming Manimalhouse CD. Check out Mac’s upcoming shows at www.myspace.com/macpotts

Kevin Selfe and The Tornadoes - Feb 2010
Written by Administrator Wednesday, 20 January 2010 20:02
As all of you know, there was a devastating earthquake in Haiti on January, 12th, and the people there are in dire need of help and support. Our friend A.C. Porter brought up the idea of having a “Blues for Haiti Benefit” in hopes of showing our community’s support. So instead of our weekly jam, we have planned a benefit for Sunday, January 31 at The Refectory starting at 6pm and will go until around 11pm. The show is free and there is no suggested donation price, all we ask is that you give what you can. All proceeds will go to Mercy Corps and the Haiti Earthquake Fund (www.mercycorps.org). We know this is short notice, but we want to help out as soon as possible. The lineup so far will include A.C. Porter, Stu Kinzel, Lisa Mann, Jim Wallace, Suburban Slim, Dover Weinberg, and Kevin Selfe and The Tornadoes, with other acts to follow. We do have a couple of scheduling notes for February to make you aware of. Due to event conflicts at The Refectory (the Super Bowl and then Valentines Day), we will NOT be having our blues jam on Sunday February 7th and Sunday February 14th. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we look forward to seeing you all there ready to jam on Sunday February 21st!
As for our regular gigs, you may have noticed by checking out the BluesNotes calendar, there are not too many listings for us playing in the area coming up in February. We are still playing lots, but next month finds us traveling quite a bit from Seattle and Port Townsend, WA to Seaside, OR and then on down to Ashland. If you feel like a blues road trip, we’d love to see you at some of these cool venues! For more info, you can check out our websites at www.kevinselfe.com, www.myspace.com/kevinselfeandthetornadoes, or track us down on Facebook. Take care, and thanks for helping to keep the blues alive!

Howdy music lovers. We just want to thank all of you for supporting our new jam out at Jubitz on Sundays starting at 7:30. We’ve had a good turnout from the start and are really enjoying playing with and listening to you all. We’d also like to say thanks to all of you who came to our fan appreciation party at the Tilly, and all of our other shows last month. We’ll be appearing in March at the Three Rivers Blues Review III along with the Bad Daddies and the StrangeTones up in Longview, so keep your eyes open for ticket information. Our longtime bassist George Burton is leaving us to pursue a career in “nothin’-but-the-blues”. George will be transitioning out for a while, so he will be on certain Cat’s gigs as we look for our next bassist. Leon will play keyboard bass at smaller venues in the meantime, and we have a couple of subs lined up. Good luck in the Stingers, big man, you’ll be missed!
Well, I’m keepin’ it short and sweet this time, so take a look at the calendar page or go to www.myspace.com/thecatillacs or www.thecatillacs.com to see where we’ll be. You know we always love to see you.
See you out & about!

Written by Administrator Wednesday, 20 January 2010 20:01
Hello. Bolt Upright thanks Greg Johnson for the positive review of our 6 song CD Upstroke in the January BluesNotes. What Greg didn’t realize is that Upstroke is our teaser for our full blown 12 original song CD titled Up For Grabs which we are currently completing mixing. Look for it’s release in March. Thanks also to Bob Ancheta at KINK for playing a few Upstroke tunes on his Sunday 7-10pm show. Bob’s a friendly cat who continues to spotlight Portland Blues bands on his show. Call Bob at 503-228-5465 at the station and thank him. Please check www.boltupright.net for more info.~Ashbolt/Suze/Ken B UP!
The Sinners Club - Feb 2010
Written by Administrator Wednesday, 20 January 2010 20:00
Holy smokes—time really does fly when the good times roll! This month, The Sinners Club celebrates their 10th Anniversary of bringing their “music that’s sinfully good” to the world. In a recent interview, the current “A-team” line-up of front man/bassist Dan Golden, twin guitar slingers Jade Stone and Brian Jones, plus the self proclaimed “best looking guy on stage,” drummer Gene Wood, expressed their gratitude to the band’s legion of loyal fans for helping to make this one of the longest running acts in Portland history. The guys are ready to get the crowd’s mojo rising at several upcoming shows to mark this auspicious milestone. First up is a special appearance on Saturday night, Feb. 13 at the legendary Stein Haus. The big party, however, will last two nights, with back-to-back shows on the Westside of town. First up is a blowout show Friday night, the 26th at the Cider Mill on SW Capitol Hwy in southwest Portland, then the big finale at Monty’s on Canyon Road in Beaverton Saturday night the 27th. Look for door prizes, a new edition of the popular “Perpetual Motion Tour” T-shirts, new tunes and more…Another milestone for the band is fast approaching—the 6th Anniversary of “the friendliest jam session around” on Thursday nights at Mojo’s in downtown Vancouver. From up and coming players looking to gain valuable stage experience and a chance to meet potential new bandmates, to the area’s top musicians just looking to have a good time, this open jam session still draws a crowd that can’t be beat! Stay tuned for upcoming plans for the celebration in April to mark the staying power of this remarkable institution. For further schedule updates and groovy advice, call The Sinners Club Hotline: (503)649-6366 and check out the band’s website: myspace.com/jointhesinnersclub.
